Since the new phase of the Nigerian Music started, many record labels have sprung up, some still standing some dead. In midst of all record labels in Nigeria, some stand out with excellent management and promotion abilities. They have over the years produced great musical acts. These record labels know what the people want and they give it to them.

1. Mavin Records

Mavin Records has become a household name in Nigeria. The label was founded by Don Jazzy in May, 2012 after the split of Mo’Hits Records, carrying on some artists from the former label including Wande Cole, D Prince and Dr Sid, along the line Tiwa Savage also joined the group. In November 2013, Wande Cole officially departed from the label. Later on, the label signed Di’Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello, all three doing very well ever since. Mavin also has three producers on board including Don Jazzy himself, Altims and Baby Fresh.

2. Chocolate City Music

The Audu Maikori led record label is the first Nigerian music company to get a global music award and recognition by the British Council in 2007:International Young Music  Entrepreneur of the Year(IYMEY) . The record label houses great musicians including M.I, Ice Prince, DJ Caise, Pryse, Nosa, Victoria Kimani, Dice Ailes and Koker. Artists formerly signed to the label include Jeremiah Gyang, Brymoand Jesse Jagz. Choc city also has a management deal with the son of African music Legend, Fela, Femi Kuti.

Nigerian music industry giant,EME, was Founded in Albany, New York, 2002, by Banky W,and was later moved to Lagos in 2008. Ever since it has been hits upon hits . Talents infested in the label includes Banky W himself, Shaydee, Niyola and DJ Xclusive (the label’s official DJ). The label has also worked closely with producer like  Masterkraft, Jay Sleek, Cobhams  Asuquo, Spellz and Samklef. E.M.E has gotten a lot of recognitions both from home and abroad as bagging a nomination for Best Record Label of the Year at the 2013 City People Entertainment Awards.

4.Made Men Music Group (MMMG)

Made famous by the pop sensation, Iyanya, Triple M G is definitely one of the best record labels out of Nigeria. Apart from Iyanya the label also boasts of some top musicians like Tekno, Emma Nyra, Selebobo, and Baci.

5.Five Star Music

As its name implies Five Star Music is definitely a world class Record Label, the duo Kcee and Mr Songz have made this evident. The label is owned by Kcee’s Billionaire elder brother, E-money. Five star music also work closely with A-list producer Del-b, who is responsible for producing some of the biggest hits out of Nigeria, including 2013’s ‘National Anthem’ Limpopo.
