N225BN DESOPADEC DEBT: Court fixes July 29 for hearing in oil communities, Delta govt suit


AGBOR—A Delta State High Court sitting in Agbor, yesterday, adjourned till July 29 for hearing in the case by Host Oil Communities of Nigeria, HOSTCOM, against the Delta State Government over an alleged N225 billion debt owed the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
Trial judge, Justice D. Maido, who just took over the case, ordered proper service of the court processes on the governor, the state government, the state accountant general and other defendants in the case before commencement hearing in the matter.
The plaintiffs, Godwin Ogbetuo, Maikpobi Okareme and others on behalf of themselves and oil communities in the state, contending that the state government was owing the DESOPADEC N225 billion as at December, 2013, which had risen to N300 billion as at May, 2015.
