Lagos—Following the renewed vigour by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to prosecute former public office holders accused of corrupt practices, Civil Society Network Against Corruption, CSNAC, has called on the judiciary to key into the anti-corruption mode of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking in Lagos, Chairman of CSNAC, Olanrewaju Suraju, flanked by Debo Adeniran, Ajayi Popoola, CSNAC Board members said for national development, the judiciary should not undermine the efforts of anti-corruption agencies to prosecute corrupt public office holders, by resorting to subterfuge of legal technicalities.
Pointing that the renewed move by the anti-corruption agencies is in tandem with Buhari’s repeatedly expressed commitment to fight corruption, Suraju, however, urged the President to take urgent steps to strengthen the anti-corruption agencies, by allowing their heads enjoy independence and operational autonomy.
