"iPod touch gives customers around the world access to Apple Music, the App Store and iOS, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, starting at just £159," said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPhone, iPod and iOS Product Marketing. "With big advancements like the A8 chip and the eight megapixel iSight camera, customers can experience next-level gameplay, take even more beautiful photos and enjoy their favourite music, TV shows and movies."

Today's announcement heralds the first new iPod since Apple discontinued the iPod Classic in October 2014. Some versions of the iPod, which retailed for £229 when Apple originally sold it, were selling for near £1,000 online two months after being taken out of shops. More than 3,000 of the models have been sold on eBay since Apple discontinued the model.
